In Gestalt eines gro\u00dfen schwarzen Hundes lag der Geist einst gegen Mitternacht quer ausgestreckt auf derselben Br\u00fccke und war so lang, dass er die ganze Breite des Weges einnahm. Ein Tagel\u00f6hner namens \u201eLechner”, der noch sp\u00e4t gearbeitet hatte, gewahrte das Ungeheuer, das ihm die Stra\u00dfe zu versperren schien. Da er jedoch um jeden Preis nach Hause kommen wollte, sprang er mutig an der Stelle, die am wenigsten gef\u00e4hrlich schien, n\u00e4mlich an der Schwanzspitze, \u00fcber das Tier und lief, so schnell er konnte. Kaum war er jedoch einige Schritte vorw\u00e4rts gekommen, bemerkte er \u00fcber seiner rechten Schulter, neben seinem Kopf, die Schnauze des Hundes, die sich mit ihm bewegte. Halbtot vor Angst erreichte \u201eLechner” trotzdem gl\u00fccklich das Haus eines Nachbarn, in dem noch das Licht einer Spinnstube brannte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the form of a large black dog, the spirit once lay stretched across the bridge around midnight and was so long that it took up the entirety of the path. A worker named “Lechner,” who had been working late, noticed the creature, which seemed to be blocking his way. However, since he wanted to get home at any cost, he bravely jumped over the spot that seemed the least dangerous, namely the tip of the tail, and ran as fast as he could. But he had only taken a few steps forward until he noticed, over his right shoulder, next to his head, the dog\u2019s maw, which was moving along with him. Filled with fear, “Lechner” safely reached a neighbor’s house, where the light of a spinning room still burned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
